I hadn’t realized it was a German or Austrian movie with a title that properly translated would’ve been “I See I See.” It had some scenes that made me wince inwardly, as a parent. I won’t give it away, but it really seemed pretty obvious to me.
Anyone who doesn’t get this movie until the reveal at the end either wasn’t paying attention or hasn’t seen enough movies or both. he found out he had a terminal disease and could not watch Sae grow up. And so, disposing of my preconceptions, I figured out in the second scene what this movie was about. She lost her father when she was very young and so lives with her mother Ryoko. I didn’t know how the trailers were misleading, but it was enough that going in, I knew that I didn’t know what this movie was about. Since it was released, I heard on KillerPOV and elsewhere that the trailers were misleading.
